About Us

Hello! My name is Roni, the author of this letter series

Petticoats, Pearls & Ponderings.

The journey started in aid of my fellow companions,

particularly those who struggled with isolation during the pandemic. I think connection is essential, for so many reasons. And so began a series of letters…

The focus here, is to explore & communicate the positive transition from a self-employed lover of my career, to an age appropriate, more realistic, refusing-to-be-put-out-to-pasture, embracer of life.

The children are done now, the bones creak a little more than they used to, & it’s time to look to the future.

While I embark on this adventure, unknown though it is, I live in trust. I hope that you’ll find these letters entertaining & very human. Also a bit like water, flexible, adventurous & tenacious.

Each letter is a fresh discovery of what it’s like to make these transitions whilst exploring timely issues with mostly joyous, hands-on solutions.

You’ll get glimpses of my large & quirky family shinanigans, including many sister-shared & much loved travel tales.

Ultimately, my writing is all about connection, & you. It’s a simple way to hopefully bring warmth into your home, remind you that you are cared for, & put a smile on your face.

Thank you for jumping on board….

The Mission with
Petticoats, Pearls & Ponderings.

My mission with each letter is to build connection & validation for all who seek a friendly voice. To remind you that someone out there cares & sends you a hug from the pages. To bring joy in anticipating an original, personal letter in your letterbox every month. To foster communication, thought & sharing with every word in these letters. A note that links us together through these unknown times. My hope is you’ll find some delight & warmth, recognition & companionship through this series.

Values That You’ll See in My Writing

Z

Respect

Honesty, communication, & respect are of paramount importance I believe. By being open, & accepting that our individual voices matter, but may not be the same collectively, we can agree to disagree. Therefore find peace among our differences.

Z

Responsibility

I reckon personal challenges & fresh perspectives can be good for us, even when they are difficult. We need to seek the lessons. All the while though, we must put on our big girl pants & take responsibility for ourselves & our actions.

Z

Generosity

It’s my firm belief that the planet would be a much better place if we all gave a little back to the world however we can. I also believe that humility & generosity have powerful tenticles across our communities, families & children.

Z

Gratitude

Little else is more valuable than having gratitude in our lives, every day. I open my eyes & I am full. It’s my hope that these writings seek out gratitude, joy, & a sense of embracing all the good this world offers.

Bonus Writings to Explore…

When you’re not reading the hand-written snail mail letters, I warmly invite you to explore my other digital writings, including the food & travel tales, soon-to-be-available self-help book, & perhaps a passionate tale or two, all right here, on this site.

I am waiting with bated breath to hear what happens next. I’m impressed with how you compose your story, the words you use to describe your daily life & the challenges you have to face.

positive review
Today I sit here with a coffee and the second of Roni’s letters.
She has such a wonderful way with words. She really captures moments and articulates them in such a way that it draws you in and makes you feel like part of her stories. Looking forward to the next letter.

I think your letters are just right, perfect in fact, leaving the reader (me) wanting more, so with great anticipation I wait for the next letter to arrive with postie.

I absolutely loved receiving your letter, the way you have penned just the simplest moments, like cozying up in bed with your coffee made me feel like it was me, I could almost smell the aroma of the coffee as I snuggled under the doona. I thought the little addition of the photos were such a lovely personal touch and I loved the photo of your quiche with the recipe on the back, can't wait to try it. I SO look forward to my next letter.

Thanking you.
